Everything Under the Sun

What a busy, busy past week I have had. I had a whole big 'to-do' list that needed to be completed before the start of school. It all started with purging my house; getting rid of all the stuff we don't need or haven't used since we have moved into the apartment. Before you knew it, furniture was rearranged, all the laundry was completed and the house was cleaned. Sigh, but somehow, my house once again looks like it was never even touched... The laundry has yet to be put away and the purged items are still sitting by the front door waiting for their ride to good-will.

Getting sick, on the other hand, was not on the 'to-do' list. The day following the big clean-up, I really felt like poo. Turns out, I had a sinus infection and after getting some meds and a good 14 hour sleep, I felt good by Sunday. Just in time for school.

On Friday, I had my nursing orientation. Lots of information but all very exciting and new. This first month or so will be an experience, to say the least. Thankfully, all of the faculty seem really nice and slightly understanding to our learning curve. But I won't say there might not be some tears along the way.

After work Friday night, Cory and I went out to Wisconsin for his grandmother's 75th birthday. I wish they lived closer because I love them and very much enjoy spending time with the Unterschuetz family, I feel at home with them. The day was filled with great food and conversation, and me trying to hide the fact that I had no sleep and was not feeling well. It only took all of 10 minutes on our drive home for me to pass out which started the first couple hours of my 14 hour night sleep.

Sunday was filled with more 'to-do' lists: cleaning my car out! I really LOVE doing this (sarcasm). I went up to my dad's house, got an oil change, car wash, vacuum, and some good, good food. My dad my his awesome BBQ chicken and potatoes in tin foil. "Yum, yum, love on a plate," is what I said just before I dove in. After spending quality time with dad, I went to my mom's to visit with grandma, Joseph and mom. Had to get everyone in before school stated.

Lastly, school started today! It was a pretty mellow today, but I think the hardest is yet to come with pharmacology and pathophysiology later this week. One day at a time, one day at a time.

Oh Geez!

Today started off ruff, after possibly falling asleep, at last, around 8am, I was awakened by Cory informing me that our lovely dog, Diesel, had once again decided to go on a little adventure. Seriously, for a split second, I wanted to not even care but I jumped out of bed to go look for him. Looking for a dog on Buckhill, we live at the top of the hill, is harder than it sounds. It is a dogs paradise full of scents of deer, fox, and skunks to name a few. Oh, and not to mention, the brush is really tall and there is a whole lot of it! To top everything off, Diesel had no training collar on AND no ID collar on! Just great! After combing the neighborhood, on foot and by car, Cory decided to go buy a whistle, which turned out to have a cork center that swelled from the humidity, and didn't do us any bit of good... It had been about one hour since Diesel went on his 'adventure' and I was doing a drive-by in front of our house, and guess who was sitting at the front door? Diesel, worn out, panting with a big smile on his face! One of these days, I'm not even gonna go look for him because he seems to be able to find his way home...

The rest of my day was more pleasant, my cousin Buddy joined me on a trip down to Mankato to purchase text books. It was a very nice ride because we took the Marauder and it has awesome air conditioning and is so comfortable. (If it didn't cost so much to fill I would drive it down all the time.) Holly smokes, the nursing books are huge! I was delighted to find out that my books didn't quite cost as much as I originally thought, until I got home, read my syllabus, and realized I need to buy three more books! So, back to the original cost, which is a ridiculous insane amount! All in all, it was great spending time with my cousin and now I am REALLY broke.

Surprisingly, I was able to get in about five hours of sleep later in the day! It has made my night at work do-able and it is actually going by quite fast being I have been alone most of the night. Here's hoping I can fall asleep when I get home because I have to be back to do a double today.

T minus one hour here folks!

Getting Started

Alright, I have been contemplating starting this up for some time now and I have finally taken the leap. So here we go...

The start of nursing school is closer and closer everyday, only 2 weeks away...YIKES! Finally, after waiting and waiting, I can finally say I am a nursing student. I have to admit, I'm looking forward to returning to class and, do I dare say, homework. Yes, I said it. I will soon regret this statement, but for now, it will do.

This is my night off of work, but as per usual, I can not flip-flop my sleeping schedule, thus, I am awake in this wee hour. My little family is sleeping away and it makes me laugh watching my animals dream.

Well, I think this is a good start and maybe I will try to sleep here in a bit. Goodnight all.
